Prodigals, COME HOME!

Anyone Have a prodigal.....Oh how frustrating they can be....The story Jesus told in the scriptures really is a heart pressing story...I know what it feels like to have a child do their own thing...rebel and have to deal with the consequences...

I can remember years ago a christian woman telling me, we need to pray that our kids never turn away from the Lord. And to not accept that they might, not even for a moment...because if you accept it for a moment then they will and we have failed as praying moms....WELL - that was too much for me....

I understand that we are to pray, lead well, and teach the children in the ways of the Lord while they are young...(and believe me though I have, with much intensity, I've also failed at times miserably).

Some would say, 'Well see - you didn't pray enough, or your faith wasn't strong enough, or......" and put all the blame on ME!

FORTUNATELY - I have an advocate with the FATHER - and Jesus intercedes on my behalf - SO I'm covered because of HIS FAITHFULNESS!!!

BUT that doesn't mean our kids won't make some bad choices. THEY are ultimately responsible for their choices and actions...I can pray, but they must choose. MY PRAYERS DO NOT FORCE them to chose the way I want them to.

You know how I know this? I was a prodigal....

The thing that continually comforts and secures my feet with my children, is that God has the ability to keep what has been entrusted to HIM! - I don't have the power to keep my children, protect my children, shelter my children. because I'm not around them 24/7

BUT the Holy Spirit will continue to press and convict their hearts as He did mine when I ran loose outside His boundaries.

I also know that each of my children, need a redeemer, they need Jesus to be their Savior, Redeemer, Friend and for that to happen they need things to be redeemed from, set free from and delivered from...

Continue to pray we must as moms...but not out of fear - Pray with eyes of faith that see and know that God is able to redeem, reconcile and restore all things to their proper place...just like the prodigal son story of scripture....
