Sad commentary on Christmas Greed

When I watch news from Saudi Arabia about those 1000's of people who get stampeded because they are worshiping at the Hajj in Mecca during the pilgrimage, or those that run with the bulls, my stomach is turned and repulsed because of the frenzied and fanatical people that act no different that beasts. It is something I have relegated in my mind to the third world countries, or desperation during a famine, or destruction of a city when people are desperate for food or water...

I just read about the Walmart Shopper this morning that was stampeded not far from our home in Valley Stream, NY by people busting through the doors to get into the sales this morning...The day after Thanksgiving...

How far we have fallen...For what - $100 savings maybe? What greed, What lust, what shame on us...all for the Love of Money and the things of this world... How sickening!
I am sad for that family, for the woman who was 8 months pregnant and lost that child, for the families, for their friends, for their coworkers, for our country...What a horrible state we are in... And all for a small and measely savings on a few christmas presents...Is it really worth it?

I have never been someone who goes out and fights and claws for the sale. I avoid shopping on this day especially, and If I do go out, it's because I want to not because I am inticed to by some greedy ploy... Yes I like sales, but I'm not willing to fight people for it...and if I miss it, so what, If I can't afford it I do without.

What are we, when we as a nation are clammering for a few cheaply made items and willing to scratch, claw, fight, push, pull, throw, be rude, be disrespectful, demanding, obnoxious, etc, etc, etc,.

Oh yeah, I know, animals and beasts...

Sad - How do you say Merry Christmas after that? Is Christmas about Christ anymore? Not when that is the focus.
